+ attached items, subscriptions etc via the API as an alternative to the web interface: cgi-bin/koha/cataloguing/merge.pl
This is a slightly improved version of Zenos patch: I (domm) have converted the code in Koha::Biblio to a more DBICy style and packed it into a transaction (as requested in Comment 23)
Even the QA script is happy now!
To test:
1) you need an API user with the permissions "editcatalogue"
2) two records: one to be merged into (with biblio_id, eg 262) and another one from
which to merge (with biblio_id_to_merge, eg 9) which will be deleted!
both records may/should have items, subscription, subscriptionhistory, serial, suggestions
orders and holds
3) check both records via the web
4) Apply patch
5) Write a JSON file with inside the field 'biblio_id_to_merge' and the biblionumber from wihich to merge.
As example:
{
"biblio_id_to_merge" : 9
}
6) Execute an API call with correct headers and location. For example:
curl -s -u koha:koha --header "Content-Type: application/json" --header "Accept: application/marc-in-json"
--request POST "http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v1/biblios/262/merge" -d @file.json
You must to setup the headers and to use a json file with parameters
7) The record with the id 9 is deleted now, the record with 262 has all items, etc attached,
the return is: return code 200 and the changed record 262 in marc-in-json format
8) It is possible to override biblio data with an external bib record. You need to put external bib record
into the json file in marc-in-json format. To write use the json file uploaded as example
You need to fill the fields 'rules' and 'datarecord'. The field 'rules' must contains 'override_ext'
To do the call:
curl -s -u koha:koha --header "Content-Type: application/json" --header "Accept: application/marc-in-json"
--request POST "http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v1/biblios/XXX/merge" -d @file_with_recod.json
9) The record in 'biblio_id_to_merge' is deleted now, in biblio XXX now there are the bibliographic data
of field 'datarecord' of json file, the return is: return code 200 and the changed record XXX in marc-in-json format
10) Go into intranet and do a search. Select two or (better) more record.
11) Merge them; merge must be a success.
12) Test with prove -v t/db_dependent/Koha/Biblio.t
13) Test with prove -v t/db_dependent/api/v1/biblios.t
To test with curl the step 8 you can customize the json file attached in bugzilla.
The marc-in-json record inside follows the MAR21 standard

As mentioned on bug 36329, this endpoint is only used with one of this
parameters:
* item_type
* collection_code
The other will be NULL both on the DB and the (deserialized) request
body. For the data from the DB, the author added `|| q{}` but missed to
do so on the incoming parameters when generates the hash key.
This generates the following warnings when using from the UI:

Using the many-to-many relationship results in the table alias `me` to
be used for table `item_bundles` instead of the expected table `items`.
This causes ordering and filtering to fail for columns Callnumber and

The 'new' method in Koha::Plugins returns undefined if
plugins are disabled. Therefore, calls to this method
must be guarded by a check that plugins actually are enabled.

* Activate the ill system by installing a backend such as
koha-illbackend-libris:

* In the staff interface, go to ILL requests.
* The page should load without getting an error 500.

This patch makes two categories of changes:
1. CSS changes to accommodate changes in DataTables default CSS and
markup structure. I've tried to make sure all of our Koha-specific
styles are still applying.
This change necessitates a rebuild of staff interface CSS.
2. DataTables option names: In this version of DataTables you can't
override a default which uses CamelCase (e.g. "pagingType") with one
in "Hungarian" notation, e.g. "sPaginationType." Since we define many
default options in prog/js/datatables.js in camel case, any template
which previously used a Hungarian notation option to override the
default has now been updated to use the CamelCase version.
See https://datatables.net/upgrade/1.10-convert#Options for a summary
of the different option name changes.

Whne performing batch operations we can send a large numebr of records for reindexing at once.
Currently this can create requetss that are too large for Elasticsearch to process. We need
to break these requests into chunks/
This patch adds a chunk_size configuration to the elasticsearch stanza in koha-conf.xml
If blank we default to 5000.
To test:
0 - Have Koha using Elasticsearch
1 - Create and download a report of all barcodes:
SELECT barcode FROM items
2 - Batch modify these items
3 - Note a single ESindexing job is created
4 - Create and download a report of all authority ids:
SELECT auth_header.authid FROM auth_header
5 - Setup a marc modification template, and batch modify all the authorities
6 - Again note a single ES backgorund job is created
7 - Apply patch
8 - Repeat the modifications above - you still get a single job
9 - Edit koha-conf.xml and add <chunk_size>250</chunk_size> to elasticsearch stanza
10 - Repeat modifications - you now get several background ES jobs

This patch addresses the fact some of our code still relies on those CGI-era ENV variables.
In particular, C4::Laguages::getlanguage expects it to calculate the most suitable language.
As this is reported as required, I provide a fix.
I did a `git grep HTTP_` on the codebase, and the only other occurences are:
* C4::Output (HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH)
* C4::Context (HTTP_USER_AGENT, HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR)
* C4::Auth_with_shibboleth (using HTTP_ variables for matchpoints)
* Some handling on the 'Koha as a Mojo app' code
* Some .pl script not relevant to this report
I decided to limit this patch to the requested header which seems harmless. I leave the
other cases.

1. Go to http://localhost:8081/cgi-bin/koha/tools/csv-profiles.pl
2. Add a CSV profile with the default values and using the following for the "Profile MARC fields":
000|001|003|005|006|007|008|010|015|016|020|022|040|050|082|100|110|111|130|240|243|245|246|247|250|260|300|336|337|338|440|490|500|501|505|520|530|600|610|611|630|648|650|651|690|700|710|711|856|887|942|995|952|952$c
3. Create a new List
4. Add all the database's bibs to that list using SQL like the following (where the shelfnumber equals the number for your list):
insert into virtualshelfcontents (shelfnumber,biblionumber,borrowernumber) select 1,biblionumber,51 from biblio;
5. Go to that list in the staff interface
6. Download that list using your CSV profile
7. Apply the patch
8. koha-plack --reload kohadev
9. Download that list using your CSV profile
10. Note that the output is the same, but that the output completes much more quickly after applying the patch

This patch adds a new method to the Koha::Notice::Message class to wrap
content in the same way we currently do at email send time. We then
update the notice preview to use this method so we're embedding
NoticeCSS into that iframe. This means the generated preview should now
exactly match how your notice will display in email clients including
any CSS you may have placed within NoticeCSS.
