Bug 41478: Refactor: Readability + Never nester
1) Install the following dummy backend plugin:
https://github.com/openfifth/koha-ill-backend-plugin/releases/tag/v2.0.9
2) Sys prefs preparation: Enable ILLModule, ILLOpacUnauthenticatedRequest and check PluginBackend on AutoILLBackendPriority
3) Logout, create a new Unauthenticated ILL request on the OPAC, visit:
<opac_url>/cgi-bin/koha/opac-illrequests.pl?op=create&backend=Standard
4) Fill in the mandatory top fields (first name, last name, email address and library)
5) Pick 'Book' for type and enter 'green' in title. This will cause the dummy plugin to be available in the AutoILL logic.
6) At the bottom of the form, on the "Verification" captcha, purposely input a wrong captcha e.g. '123'
7) Click 'Create'. Notice an odd looking form is presented, this is the dummy backend form, but it should present the 'Standard' form when using AutoILLBackendPriority as that was also the form we were presented with originally.
This happens because currently it's the backend that delegates back to Koha what template to render. When using AutoILLBackendPriority, however, Koha should handle this template delegation instead and present the Standard form.
8) Apply patches. Repeat test plan. Notice that now on step 7 you get the correct form, and error message (coming from Standard, as expected when using AutoILLBackendPriority).
9) Input the correct captcha this time
10) Confirm the created request landed in the PluginBackend backend.

Bug 40850: (follow-up) Use add_or_update_attributes in copyright clearance methods
This patch simplifies the set_copyright_clearance_confirmed() method
to use the new add_or_update_attributes() method instead of custom
update/create logic.

Benefits:
- Reduces code complexity from 20+ lines to 6 lines
- Eliminates duplicate update/create logic
- Uses the new standardized method for attribute management
- Maintains all existing functionality and test coverage

Test plan:
1. Apply patch
2. Run:
   $ ktd --shell
  k$ prove t/db_dependent/Koha/ILL/Request.t
=> SUCCESS: Tests pass! Copyright clearance methods work with new implementation
3. Test copyright clearance workflow still works in ILL module

Bug 40850: Add `Koha::ILL::Request->add_or_update_attributes`
Currently, ILL backends and plugins must implement custom logic to update
existing extended attributes on ILL requests, as the core extended_attributes()
method only supports adding new attributes and throws duplicate key errors when
attempting to update existing ones. This has led to code duplication across
multiple ILL plugins (Rapido, INNReach, SLNP) that all implement identical
add_or_update_attributes() methods, and forces the Standard backend to use
error-prone patterns when managing request metadata.

This patch adds add_or_update_attributes() method to Koha::ILL::Request that
provides a safe, efficient way to add new attributes or update existing ones
in a single operation, eliminating duplicate key errors and reducing code
duplication.

The method:
- Accepts a hashref of attribute type => value pairs
- Updates existing attributes only when values actually change
- Creates new attributes when they don't exist
- Skips undefined or empty values to avoid constraint errors
- Uses transactions for atomicity
- Returns the request object for method chaining

Test plan:
1. Apply patch
2. Run:
   $ ktd --shell
  k$ prove t/db_dependent/Koha/ILL/Request.t
=> SUCCESS: Tests pass! New method works correctly
3. Test adding new attributes works
4. Test updating existing attributes works
5. Test mixed add/update operations work
6. Test empty/undefined values are skipped

Bug 40262: (follow-up) Refactor copyright clearance to use dedicated methods
This patch refactors the copyright clearance confirmation functionality
to follow proper separation of concerns by moving business logic from
the controller to the model.

Changes:
- Add set_copyright_clearance_confirmed() method to Koha::ILL::Request
- Add get_copyright_clearance_confirmed() method to Koha::ILL::Request
- Update controller to use dedicated method instead of direct attribute manipulation
- Update staff template to use the new dedicated accessor method
- Add comprehensive test coverage for both methods

Benefits:
- Improved separation of concerns (business logic in model)
- Consistency with existing patterns (get_type, get_type_disclaimer_value)
- Better reusability and testability
- Centralized attribute name management

Test plan:
1. Apply patch
2. Run:
   $ ktd --shell
  k$ prove t/db_dependent/Koha/ILL/Request.t
=> SUCCESS: Tests pass! New methods work correctly
3. Test ILL copyright clearance workflow still works:
   - Enable ILLModule
   - Create HTML customization for ILLModuleCopyrightClearance
   - Create OPAC ILL request with copyright clearance
   - Verify confirmation is saved and displayed in staff interface
4. Sign off :-D

Bug 39917: Add new optional 'mark_completed' ILL screen
This new 'Mark completed' screen only shows when ILL_STATUS_ALIAS is not empty, i.e. Koha installations that are not using ILL_STATUS_ALIAS will not see any change in their workflow.
Backends that don't implement 'mark_completed' are inherently already making use of core 'mark_completed' and will automatically adopt this enhancement.
Backends that do implement their own mark_completed don't automatically adopt this enhancement and will not see any change in their workflow.

Test plan:
1) Enable ILLModule sys pref
2) Create a new ILL request:
   <staff_url>/cgi-bin/koha/ill/ill-requests.pl?method=create&backend=Standard
3) Add a type, cardnumber and library. Click 'Create'.
4) You should now be on the manage request screen. Click 'Confirm' and 'Confirm request'.
5) You should be on the manage request screen again. Click 'Mark completed'. The request's status became 'Completed'.
6) Add at least one AV entry to ILL_STATUS_ALIAS av category, visit:
   <staff_url>/cgi-bin/koha/admin/authorised_values.pl?op=add_form&category=ILL_STATUS_ALIAS
7) Add 'abc_code' to 'Authorized value' and 'abc_description' to 'Description'. Click 'Save'.
8) Repeat steps 2 to 5. Notice that when you 'Mark completed' now, a new screen is shown prompting for a status_alias.
9) Pick a status_alias and save. Notice the 'status' now shows the alias.

Bug 40026: Edit item metadata should present Standard form if AutoILLBackendPriority is in use
When the AutoILLBackendPriority system preference is enabled, the form that was used is always the Standard form, regardless of which backend the request ends up on.
It only makes sense that when editing an ILL request's item metadata, the form shown is also the Standard form if AutoILLBackendPriority is in use.

Test plan, k-t-d, don't apply patch:
1) Enable ILLModule
2) Install an external backend, e.g. the libkey lending tool (IncDocs) backend plugin:
   https://github.com/openfifth/koha-ill-libkey-lending-tool/releases/tag/v2.0.3
3) Restart plack
   $ koha-plack --restart kohadev
4) Create a new IncDocs ILL request:
   <staff_url>/cgi-bin/koha/ill/ill-requests.pl?method=create&backend=IncDocs
5) Add a DOI '123', a cardnumber '42' and any library. Click 'Make request'.
6) Enable AutoILLBackendPriority system preference by ticking 'IncDocs'. This is only done now to simplify the test plan, as creating an 'IncDocs' request using AutoILLBackendPriority requires credentials configuration.
7) Back on the 'Manage request' page for the request created in step 5, click 'Edit item metadata'. Notice the form shown is not the 'Standard' form (its the IncDocs one). Edit any of the metadata values, click 'Save'. Verify the new metadata is saved correctly.
8) Apply patch. Repeat 7). Notice the form shown is the 'Standard' form now. Edit any of the metadata values, click "Save". Verify the new medata is saved correctly.

Bug 40171: Return fail if no transports for patron
Test plan, k-t-d, don't apply patches yet:
1) Enable ILLModule
2) Create a new ill request at:
<staff_url>/cgi-bin/koha/ill/ill-requests.pl?method=create&backend=Standard
3) Pick any type and any library, pick '42' for patron. This is the 'koha' user.
4) Create the request, click 'Send notice to patron'. Pick any template. Notice nothing is shown on the UI.
5) Apply patches. Repeat. Notice you get the message:
  "The requested notice was NOT queued for delivery by email, SMS".
6) Edit the 'koha' patron and tick the following boxes on 'Patron messaging preferences':
   - Interlibrary loan ready
   - Interlibrary loan unavailable
7) Go back to the request and click 'Send notice to patron' and pick any option again. Notice now you get a success message.

Bug 39446: Show both status and status_alias
If a request has a status_alias and that status_alias does not have a lib_opac defined, it'll show as an empty status on the OPAC.
Staff UI always shows the request's status and adds the status_alias only if that is defined. The same should happen on the OPAC.

To test:
1) Enabled ILLModule
2) Create a new ILL request, visit:
http://localhost:8081/cgi-bin/koha/ill/ill-requests.pl?method=create&backend=Standard
3) Add '42' on the cardnumber. Pick any library. Click 'Create'.
4) Add a new 'status_alias' entry, visit the authorized values page:
http://localhost:8081/cgi-bin/koha/admin/authorised_values.pl
5) Search for 'ill_'. Pick 'ILL_STATUS_ALIAS'. Click 'Add a new authorized value'.
6) Enter the 'Authorized value' of 'test', and 'Description' of 'test'. Click 'Save'.
7) Visit the previously created ILL request:
http://localhost:8081/cgi-bin/koha/ill/ill-requests.pl?op=illview&illrequest_id=1
8) Click 'Edit request' from the top toolbar.
9) On the 'Status' dropdown, pick 'test'. Click 'Submit'.
10) Visit the ILL on the OPAC:
http://localhost:8080/cgi-bin/koha/opac-illrequests.pl
11) Notice the 'status' column does not display the status_alias. Click the 'View', notice the 'status' entry does not display the status_alias.
12) Apply patch. Repeat. Notice it defaults to displaying the authorised value code if lib_opac is empty.

   http://localhost:8080/cgi-bin/koha/opac-illrequests.pl?DOI=10.1001%2Fjama.2024.11146&atitle=Interventions%20for%20High%20Body%20Mass%20Index%20in%20Children%20and%20Adolescents%3A%20US%20Preventive%20Services%20Task%20Force%20Recommendation%20Statement.&aulast=Nicholson%2C%20Wanda%20K.&backend=FreeForm&cardnumber=53807898&date=20240716&genre=article&id=DOI%3A10.1001%2Fjama.2024.11146&issn=00987484&issue=3&method=create&opac=1&openurl=1
3) Notice it fails with a Duplicate ID error and the OPAC blows up.
   This is because Koha is trying to add the 'DOI' illrequestattribute
   twice and that is resulting in a duplicate ID
4) Apply patches, repeat test plan, notice the error no longer happens,
   the request is created correctly and all successful attribute have
   been added.

Bug 38166: Make core status graph strings translatable
This patch makes several strings translatable. I usually dealth with
this by adding my statuses like `NEW` to the status graph shippped by
the backend I was working with, and solved the translation step inside
of the plugin itself.

But really, the core status graph should be translatable so core
backends (like the to-be FreeForm) and backend authors can rest assured
they only need to care about their custom statuses.

To test:
1. Make sure you have 35570 applied so it is easier to test
2. Enable the ILLModule syspref.
3. Install a language you're familiar with. I pick es-ES for the sake of
   this testing steps to be readable:
   $ ktd --shell
  k$ koha-translate --install es-ES --dev kohadev && restart_all
4. Enable (language sysprefs) and switch to your language (click at the
   left bottom on the language name).
5. Create a new ILL request
=> FAIL: Notice some buttons are not in your language
6. Jump to the ILL requests list
=> FAIL: The status displays as 'New request'
7. Apply this patch
8. Generate the translation entries for the core status graph strings:
  k$ gulp po:extract
  k$ gulp po:update # I had to run it twice to complete, unrelated error
9. Edit the relevant -messages.po file. In my case:
  k$ vim misc/translator/po/es-ES-messages.po
Note: it is easier on VScode which shows you the changed lines in colors
on the scroll bar. The idea is to find the new strings that relate to
Koha::ILL::Request and translate them
10. Translate the strings that relate to this patch (at least 'New
    request' and some of the buttons in the ILL request detail).
11. Install the new translations:
  k$ koha-translate --update es-ES --dev kohadev && restart_all
12. Refresh the ILL requests list
=> SUCCESS: The request status is translated!
13. Manage the ILL request
=> SUCCESS: The buttons you translated, are translated!!

Bug 37872: Consider enable_plugins = 0 when fetching plugin backends
This patch builds on top of Andreas patch checking for Koha::Plugins->new() instead as the enable_plugins is already done there.
It also adds a check in reply to Joubu's observation, which is indeed an additional bug.

Test plan:
1) Apply tests patch. Run the tests. Notice it fails
2) Apply the remaining patches. Run the tests. Notice they pass.

Additional (and better) tests can be written, but for now I think this is good enough.
Additional tests should be written on top of bug 36197 (which adds a dummy ILL backend plugin for testing), at:

Bug 34838: Use ->set to avoid method redefinition warnings
This patch silences more warnings. To test

1. Be on 23.11.x
2. Apply the patches before this one
3. Run:
   $ ktd --shell
  k$ prove t/db_dependent/Illrequests.t
=> FAIL: Lots of warnings like this:

Bug 34597: Implementation
New can_patron_place_ill_in_opac method to include all rules
that need checking to determine if a patron is allowed
to place an ILL request on the OPAC or not.
Added effective_BlockExpiredPatronOpacActions_contains rule to
this new method.

Test plan, k-t-d,:
1) Install FreeForm and enable ILLmodule, run:
bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ammopt/koha-ill-dev/master/start-ill-dev.sh)
1.5) Checkout FreeForm's reorganize_ILL branch:
  cd /kohadevbox/koha/Koha/Illbackends/FreeForm
  git checkout reorganize_ILL
  koha-plack --restart kohadev
2) Edit a patron category, visit:
<staff_url>/cgi-bin/koha/admin/categories.pl
3) Set 'Placing an ILL request' for the "Block expired patrons" input config
4) Add a new patron of one of the above category, make sure this patron is expired (set an expirydate to the past).
5) Login as that user and visit ILL page in OPAC:
/cgi-bin/koha/opac-illrequests.pl
6) Confirm there is no "Create a new request" button
7) Access the create a new request page url directly:
<opac_url>/cgi-bin/koha/opac-illrequests.pl?op=add_form&backend=FreeForm
8) Confirm you get a 403 page
9) Set the 'Block expired actions' to "Follow system preference BlockExpiredPatronOpacActions"
10) Test different values of the BlockExpiredPatronOpacActions system preference and confirm the behaviour matches what's configured

Bug 34838: Only check for status in status graph if request has a status
This check is required because when the existing_statuses method checks for the existing status_alias, it'll leave out the status from the query, so the status will be NULL for those particular query results when calling strings_map, throwing a warning

Bug 34838: Replace SUPER::AUTOLOAD with get_column
I'm not 100% happy with this but I'm out of ideas.

I think the problem warning happens because there is no method status or status_alias directly defined in Object.pm so it tries to define it, but it has already been defined by AUTOLOAD previously.

Bug 35581: Koha::Illrequest -> Koha::ILL::Request
Koha/Illrequests.pm -> Koha/ILL/Requests.pm

Merged:
t/db_dependent/Koha/Illrequests.t
t/db_dependent/Illrequests.t

Into:
t/db_dependent/Koha/ILL/Requests.t

ILL classes file structure is, for the most part, around 7 years old and doesn't follow a strict logic. It's so confusing that some test files exist redundantly.

This housekeeping should help future work in regards to ISO18626 to add Koha as a supplying agency instead of just requesting agency, as is now.
It should also help future housekeeping of moving backend related logic out of the Illrequest.pm into Illbackend.pm (now ILL/Request.pm and ILL/Backend.pm as of this patchset).
It should also help in structuring the addition of a master generic form (see bug 35570)

This patchset will require existing backends to be updated to match the new class names and structure, if they invoke them.

Test plan, k-t-d, run tests:
prove t/db_dependent/api/v1/ill_*
prove t/db_dependent/Koha/ILL/*

Test plan, k-t-d, manual:
1) Install FreeForm, enable ILL module, run:
bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ammopt/koha-ill-dev/master/start-ill-dev.sh)
2) You'll have to switch the FreeForm repo to the one compatible with this work, like:
cd /kohadevbox/koha/Koha/Illbackends/FreeForm
git checkout reorganize_ILL
3) Do some generic ILL testing:
3.1) Create a request
3.2) Add a comment to a request
3.3) Edit a request
3.4) Edit a request's item metadata
3.5) Confirm a request
3.6) List requests
3.7) Filter requests list using left side filters
4) Install a metadata enrichment plugin:
https://github.com/PTFS-Europe/koha-plugin-api-pubmed
4.1) Create an ILL batch and insert a pubmedid like 123
4.2) Add the request and finish batch
5) Verify all of the above works as expected
