Correct genuine spelling errors identified by the codespell 2.4.x
full scan after the KTD container OS upgrade. Changes are in
comments, POD, strings, and template text across 55 files.
"SAN Ouest Provence" (the French library co-operative and Koha
sponsor) is preserved as a proper noun. Perl copyright lines
receive an inline # codespell:ignore annotation; about.tt files
(contributor attribution pages) are added to the Koha::Devel::Files
codespell exception list so that future uses of "Provence" as a
typo for "Province" are still caught in all other files.
Notable user-visible fixes:
- "submiting" -> "submitting" in authority and bibliographic merge screens
- "deleteable" -> "deletable" in patron exception messages
- "Acquistions" -> "Acquisitions" in reports dictionary
Test plan:
1. Apply patches
2. In the staff interface, go to Cataloguing > Merge records and
confirm the submit button reads "Submitting" (not "Submiting")
3. In the staff interface, go to Authorities > Merge and confirm
the same correction
4. Attempt to delete a patron with outstanding issues and confirm
the error message reads "deletable" (not "deleteable")

Adds a new subtest to t/db_dependent/Koha/Patron.t covering
fixup_cardnumber and the autoMemberNumValue counter:
- Normal increment bumps the counter
- Renaming a patron's cardnumber does not free it for reuse
- Deleting a patron does not free their cardnumber for reuse
- Counter wins when ahead of db_max
- db_max wins when ahead of counter
- Legacy fallback when the syspref row is absent
Also adds autoMemberNumValue to the exceptions list in
t/db_dependent/check_sysprefs.t. The preference is managed internally
by Koha::Patron::fixup_cardnumber -- it is not user-configurable and
has no entry in the admin preference YAML files.

This patch changes Koha::Patron->permissions() to return the same
structure as C4::Auth::getuserflags() for architectural consistency.
Previously, permissions() only returned granted permissions:
{
catalogue => 1,
circulate => { override_renewals => 1 }
}
Now it returns ALL flags (matching getuserflags()):
{
superlibrarian => 0,
catalogue => 1,
circulate => { override_renewals => 1 },
borrowers => 0,
...
}
This provides several benefits:
1. Consistency - Matches established C4::Auth::getuserflags() pattern
2. Simpler checks - Can use "if ($flags->{module})" instead of
"if (exists $flags->{module})"
3. Future compatibility - Enables eventual deprecation of getuserflags()
in favor of the ORM-based $patron->permissions()
4. Helper compatibility - Works with existing _dispatch() logic
The logging functionality still works correctly - the diff will now
show explicit changes from 0 to 1 rather than absence to presence.
Test plan:
1. prove t/db_dependent/Koha/Patron.t
2. prove t/db_dependent/Log.t

This patch addresses several QA concerns:
1. Fixed duplicate subtest name - renamed second "is_superlibrarian() tests"
to "permissions() tests" which accurately reflects what it tests
2. Fixed incorrect hash assignment - permissions() returns a hashref,
not a hash. Changed `my %permissions` to `my $permissions`
3. Improved test coverage - expanded from 2 to 8 assertions covering:
- Hashref return type verification
- Single flag permission
- No permissions
- Multiple flags
- Granular subpermissions from user_permissions table
4. Refactored permissions() method to use DBIx::Class ORM instead of
raw SQL queries, following Koha::Object architecture principles
All tests now pass without warnings.
Test plan:
1. prove t/db_dependent/Koha/Patron.t
2. prove t/db_dependent/Log.t
3. Verify all tests pass
4. Confirm the test now properly validates the intended behavior

Adding a new guarantee and storing it fails with "Creating a patron"
selected in TrackLastPatronActivityTriggers when guarantors are set
to be mandatory. The problem comes from Koha::Patron->store called
in update_lastseen. Since we validate guarantor in Koha::Patron->store
but don't store them in there, new call to store fails because it
doesn't receive guarantor info as parameter.
As a solution, we should validate guarantors in separated method.
Validation can't be moved e.g. to Koha::Patron::Relationship->store
since this could lead to situations where guarantee is stored without
guarantor. This patch adds new method validate_guarantor and adjusts
old guarantor requirements tests to match this new method.
To test:
1. Select option "Creating a patron" in "TrackLastPatronActivityTriggers" syspref.
2. Enable syspref "ChildNeedsGuarantor" and make sure you have options in
"borrowerRelationship" syspref.
3. Create a guarantee patron, fill all required fields and add guarantor for patron
(either add Patron guarantor or fill Non-patron guarantor inputs).
4. Attempt to save patron.
=> Error box is displayed with text "The following fields are wrong. Please fix them.".
=> Logs show error "Patron creation failed! - [Child patron needs a guarantor]".
5. Apply this patch.
6. Create a guarantee patron again and save.
=> Patron should be saved correctly.
7. Create a new guarantee patron but this time don't add patron guarantor or fill
non-patron guarantor inputs.
8. Attempt to save patron.
=> Save should fail with error "A child patron needs a guarantor."
9. Add patron guarantor who can also be a guarantee and save.
=> Save should fail with error "A guarantor cannot be a guarantee."

This QA follow-up adds comprehensive test coverage for edge cases that
the original patch handles:
1. Empty string values ('') - the default value in sysprefs
- Verifies that empty strings are treated as "not set"
- Confirms charge calculations are skipped (performance optimization)
- Ensures patrons are not blocked
2. Zero values (0) - valid numeric limit
- Verifies that zero triggers charge calculation (valid number)
- Confirms patrons are not blocked (0 means "no limit")
- Documents intended behavior that 0 disables blocking
3. Positive numeric values - normal case
- Confirms charges are calculated and blocking works correctly
These tests validate that looks_like_number() is the correct approach
rather than simple truthiness checking, as it properly distinguishes
between:
- Empty string '' (not a number, skip calculation)
- Zero 0 (is a number, calculate but don't block)

9) Notice the hold group shows '1'. If you click on it you're presented the hold group modal.
10) Group multiple holds multiple times.
11) Notice you can't group a hold that has already been found.
12) Notice you can't click the 'Group selected' button unless at least 2 holds are selected.
13) Notice a hold group is deleted if left with 0 or 1 hold e.g. make a group of 2 holds, cancel 1, notice the remaining hold is left without a group.

[SQUASHED IN QA]
These patches will alter the checks for a patron that prevent a category with
'can_be_guarantee' from being a guarantor. Two patrons in the same category should be
allowed to have a guarantee/guarantor relationship
The tests below assume you are using the KTD sample data. Update borrowernumbers if not.
To test:
0 - Apply tests patch
1 - Set the 'Patron' category as 'Can be a guarantee'
2 - Add a relationship between two patrons of the same category
This is restricted from the staff interface
perl -e 'use Koha::Patrons; my $p = Koha::Patrons->find(5)->add_guarantor({ guarantor_id => 23, relationship => 'father'});'
3 - Note there is no warning or exception. This should be allowed.
4 - Checkout an item to Edna (borrowernumber 5)
5 - Set 'TrackLastPatronActivityTriggers' to 'Checking in an item'
6 - Try to check the item in, KABOOM
7 - Set 'TrackLastPatronActivityTriggers' to 'Checking out an item'
8 - Try to issue an item to Enda, KABOOM
9 - prove -v t/db_dependent/Koha/Patron.t, fail
10 - Apply second patch
11 - prove -v t/db_dependent/Koha/Patron.t, one more test passes, but then fail
12 - Apply third patch
13 - prove -v t/db_dependent/Koha/Patron.t, pass!
14 - restart_all
15 - Checkout to Enda, OK!
16 - Checkin from Edna, OK!
17 - Find two more patrons in the category and attempt to link them
18 - 'Guarantor cannot be a guarantee'
19 - Apply fourth patch
20 - You can add a guarantor from the same category in interface
21 - Try to add a guarantor to the guarantor assigned in 20
22 - Confirm you cannot add a guarantor - "Guarantor cannot be a guarantee"

This commit adds unit tests for the two new methods introduced and also updates all unit tests that use the noissuecharge sysprefs
Test plan:
1. Choose a patron and note their patron category
2. Create a manual invoice on that patron for 6.00
3. Try to check an item out to the patron and it will show a message saying that checkout is blocked because the fine balance is over the limit.
4. This is because the default global value for the ‘noissuescharge’ is 5.00 and we are now over that limit
5. Navigate to Administration > Patron categories and click to edit the category relevant to your patron
6. At the bottom of the form will be fields called No Issues Charge, No Issues Charge Guarantees and No Issues Charge Guarantors With Guarantees. Set those fields to 7
7. Now try and checkout again - this time you will be allowed to checkout as the category level limit is higher than the fine we set.
8. Choose a different patron (patron 2) with a category that is different to the first patron (patron 1).
9. Repeat steps 2 and 3. This time checkout will be blocked again because the limit for this patron category is still the global value of 5.00
10. Choose a third patron with a category of child or similar (patron 3)
11. Make patron 1 a guarantor for patron 3
12. Edit patron 3’s patron category and set the limit for No Issues Charge, No Issues Charge Guarantees and No Issues Charge Guarantors With Guarantees to 5.
13. Try to check out to patron 3 and it will be blocked due to the fines on patron 1’s account
14. Try to checkout to patron 1 - it should still be possible
15. Add a fine to patron 3’s account for 2.00
16. Try to check out to patron 1 - the checkout will be blocked due to the total of 8 now owed by the patron and its guarantees

I felt the switch to multi in the EmailFieldPrimary preference was a bit
confusing given that type exposes a 'select all' option which doesn't
make sense with the pre-existing 'first valid' option being an override
in the code.
This patch opts to switch it back to 'Choice', meaning that only one
option can be picked and adds a 'selected addresses' option which
prompts the use of a new 'EmailFieldSelection' preference which allows
for the multi-select as before.
To test:
1) Run though the test plan for 'Update notice_email_address method to
return a list' but with the following ammendments:
* 2) As aposed to being able to select multiple options under
EmailFieldPrimary, you should now only be able to select one option at
a time, but a new 'selected addresses' option should be present.
* 8) Select the 'selected addresses' option for 'EmailFieldPrimary' and
also select multiple fields for the new 'EmailFieldSelection'
preference.

This patch updates the notice_email_address method to return a comma
separated list of addresses as expected by Email::Sender if you wish to
send mail to multiple To addresses.
To test:
1. Install database update and restart services
2. Go to Koha Administration -> system preferences. Search for EmailFieldPrimary. Confirm the options show as checkboxes and you can select multiple.
3. Search for a patron. Put different email addresses in each of the possible email fields (i.e. primary email, secondary email, alternate email).
4. Make sure 'first valid' is checked in EmailFieldPrimary.
5. Go to your patron, click the More dropdown and send a welcome email.
6. In your terminal, go into the database to view the message queue.
sudo koha-mysql instance
select * from message_queue\G
7. Confirm your welcome email is visible, with ONLY the first valid email in
the to_address field.
8. Select other combinations of emails in EmailFieldPrimary.
9. Send another welcome email to the same patron, then run the message_queue
SQL query again.
10. Confirm your welcome email is visible and shows all selected addresses
concatenated by , in the to_address field.
11. Enable KTD to send email [1] (without email configured you will not
be able to confirm the delivery to multiple addresses).
12. Run misc/cronjobs/process_message_queue.pl to trigger sending the
queued notices from above.
13. Check that the addresses in the to_address all actually recieve the
notice.
[1] To test sending emails using a Google account:
- Set up an App password for your Google Account
- Configure a new 'SMTP Server' under 'Administration > SMTP servers'
using the following settings where `User name` = your Google email
address and `Password` = your APP password, not your Google account
password):
Host: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
Timeout: 120
SSL: STARTTLS
User name: GOOGLEACCOUNTUSER
Password: GOOGLEAPPPASSWORD
- Set this server as default
