GetNormalizedUPC duplicated logic already available via the
MetadataExtractor (Bug 34828) and exposed as $biblio->normalized_upc.
All callers migrated:
- Scripts with $biblio available: use $biblio->normalized_upc
- C4::Search (only MARC::Record): reuses the extractor instance
already created for OCLC
Assisted-by: Sonnet 4.6 (Anthropic)
Test plan:
1. Apply patch
2. Run:
$ ktd --shell
k$ prove t/db_dependent/Koha.t \
t/db_dependent/Koha/Biblio.t
=> SUCCESS: Tests pass

Replaces all calls to GetNormalizedOCLCNumber() and
Koha::Util::MARC::oclc_number() with the extractor pattern.
OPAC scripts pass their already ViewPolicy-filtered $record directly
to the extractor. This preserves the existing filtering behavior
without introducing new abstraction layers:
Koha::Biblio::Metadata::Extractor->new( { metadata => $record } )->get_normalized_oclc
Intranet scripts and the Koha::Biblio convenience method use the
raw cached extractor (035 visibility is not affected by ViewPolicy
in practice, and intranet doesn't filter):
$biblio->normalized_oclc
Test plan:
1. Verify OCLC numbers display on OPAC detail, ISBD, MARC detail
2. Verify staff catalogue detail and search results
3. prove t/db_dependent/Koha/Biblio.t

This patch removes a fetch of the item object followed but get_transfer to simply search the
transfers by itemnumber and status
To test:
1 - Add many items to your records

NOTE: this script makes a lot of items withdrawn or damaged, undo that for more dramatic difference
UPDATE items SET withdrawn=0,damaged=0
perl misc/search_tools/rebuild_elasticsearch -v
2 - Set Koha system preferences to display more results and check more items:
maxItemsInSearchResults 60
numSearchResults 50
3 - Do a search, several times, note the time it takes
4 - Apply patch, restart all
5 - Repeat search several times, note the time it takes

This patch addresses two issues found in QA review:
1. Fixed HTML syntax error in i18n_l10n.pref where closing anchor tag
was incorrectly written as <a> instead of </a>
2. Changed C4/Search.pm to use elsif instead of separate if statement
for FacetOrder checking, matching the logic structure used in
Elasticsearch implementation and preventing potential double-execution

This patch restores the previous perl sorting to restore speed. For English language libraries
this will be correct in most instances, and is much more performant.
To test:
1 - Apply patch, update database
2 - Perform some searches, note ordering of facets
3 - Update system preference 'FacetOrder' to 'simple alphabetical'
4 - Peform some searches, note ordering of facets, should be correct unless you have unicode characters

This follow-up adds two major enhancements to the locale-based facet sorting
implementation:
1. **System Preference Integration**
- Adds FacetSortingLocale system preference for configurable locale selection
- Dynamically detects available system locales using Koha::I18N
- Provides user-friendly dropdown with locale descriptions
- Supports both Elasticsearch and Zebra search engines
2. **Zebra Search Engine Support**
- Extends locale-based sorting to Zebra (in addition to existing Elasticsearch)
- Implements _sort_facets_zebra() function in C4::Search
- Maintains consistent Unicode-aware sorting behavior across search engines
Key Features:
- Dynamic locale detection via Koha::I18N::available_locales()
- Proper module architecture with comprehensive unit tests
- Clean fallback chain: preference → system LC_COLLATE → default
- Admin UI integration in System Preferences → I18N/L10N
- Universal facet sorting for international library systems
Test plan:
1. Apply patch and restart services
2. Install/run database update
3. Navigate to Administration → System Preferences → I18N/L10N
4. Verify "Sort facet names using" dropdown shows available system locales
5. Test facet sorting with different locales and both search engines
6. Run: prove t/Koha/I18N.t t/Koha/SearchEngine/Elasticsearch/Search.t t/db_dependent/Search_FacetSorting.t

This new feature allows to manage facets for Elasticsearch from the
administration page.
Prior to this the facet fields were hardcoded in the codebase.
Librarians can then add/remove facet fields and modify their label.
Test plan:
1. Create a new search field and set it a label different than its name.
2. Save
3. Go the bibliographic mapping tab
4. Add 1+ mapping for this search field (Searchable and facetable must be "Yes")
5. Add, reorder, remove new facets
6. Save and reindex your records
7. Search and notice the new facet list
QA: There are several wrong things in this area (ES + facets code,
everything, pm, pl, tt AND on this administration page). I have done my
best to clean the code as much as I could and keep the code cleaner
after than before. But there are still a lot to do.
There are still inconsistencies on this page (like we need to save to
see the changes applied to the other tables), but this is clearly out of
the scope of this bug report.
Another enhancement would be to move the facet list to a different DB
table, that could bring more flexibility:
* display or not (could be opac/staff/both/none)
* define the size per field (number of facet to display)
* order: move search_field.facet_order to this new table.
But, again, it's a lot more work.
More work is done in this area, please see related bug reports.

When a record has multiple ISBNs the database stores them seperated by a
pipe
Zebra interprets a string like "isbn:1600213510 | 9781600213519" as an 'OR' search, but for
Elasticsearch we need to explicitly send "OR" - and Zebra support this
as well

This patch alters the code in the ES QueryBuilder. Reflecting
how things are handled in build_query_compat we clean the query,
but not the limits. In Zebra we simply recursivly call buildQuery,
but the ES query structure
This patchset adds a new ability to save searches on the staff client, and display them in the results
page on staff or opac as a new filter.
New filters can be added from the results page after a search, and there is an admin page for updating
deleting and renaming filters
There is a new permission to control management of these filters
New filters can be added that are not displayed along with facets, this allows for building custom links
using these filters to keep URLs shorter
Due to bug 30528 testing in ES is recommended
To test:
1 - Apply patches and update database and restart all
2 - Enable new system preference 'SavedSearchFilters'
3 - As superlibrarian perform a search in staff client, something broad like 'a'
4 - Note new 'Save search as filter' link on results page
5 - Click it, save search as new filter, check 'Staff client' visibility
6 - Perform another search
7 - Note the filter now appears above facets
8 - Click to it filter results
9 - Note results are limited by the new filter, and it is checked in the facets
10 - Confirm click the [x] removes the filter
11 - Go to administration->search filters
12 - Confirm the filter appears
13 - Edit and mark as OPAC visible
14 - Test OPAC to ensure it shows and can be applied/removed
15 - Copy URL with filter applied
16 - In adminsitration mark filter as not visible on staff or opac
17 - Confirm link above still works
18 - Create a new staff with catalogue and search filters permission
19 - Ensure they can access/save filters
20 - Remove filter permission and ensure they cannot
21 - Disable system preference
22 - Confirm links to search filters page are removed from admin home and admin sidebar
23 - Confirm filters do not appear on results and cannot be created
24 - Enable pref
25 - Create a filter
26 - From search filters page, click 'Edit search'
27 - Confirm you are taken to advanced search page letting you know which filter you are editing
28 - Confirm you can change searhc options and save
29 - Confirm you can perform the search from this page

When building search results for XSLT we generate and pass a list of hidden

C4::Search->FindDuplicate joins title and author using 'and'
(lowercase). When this query is passed on to ElasticSearch, it
interprets the lowercase 'and' as a term to search for, because the
operator has to be in uppercases ('AND').
Test plan:
* Reproduce the bug:
- Set SearchEngine to ElasticSearch (and make sure you have the data
indexed etc)
- Find an existing book, note the title (245a) and the author (100a)
- Create a new book (Cataloging -> New Record)
- Fill in the same title and author using the same data as in an
existing book (and any other fields that might be required)
- Click "save"
=> A new book will be created, the Duplicate Finder has failed
* Apply the patch
* Check if it's working now:
- Create a new book (Cataloging -> New Record)
- Fill in the same title and author using the same data as in an
existing book (and any other fields that might be required)
- Click "save"
- The DuplicateFinder should now report the already exising book
Maybe we should also check if Zebra does not have any problems with the
uppercase 'AND'? In that case, repeat the above steps, but set
SearchEngine to Zebra :-)
